Mystery Explored: Secrets of the Mummies
Expedition Dates: May 20 - June 2, 2006

For over 3,000 years, ancient Egyptians preserved their dead in the desert sands. On a quest to learn more about the evolution of their practices and beliefs, I entered a realm of temples, tombs, and mummies few people are able to see. How did the Egyptians prepare the dead for the afterlife and why did these sacred practices disappear? On my exploration, I explored the royal tombs at Giza, mined the key ingredient used to preserve the dead, and uncovered a secret cache of golden mummies.
